CITE STUDIO WAS STARTED IN NEW YORK CITY IN 1986 BY THE HUSBAND-AND-WIFE TEAM OF DAVID WILLIAMS AND ANN WIMSATT.
After spending several years as junior architects for I.M. Pei, a modernist architect renowned elegant urban works, the founders set out on their own venture, exploring the world for inspiration. Since its founding, the firm maintained offices in New Zealand and Abu Dhabi before returning to the United States to bring their unique perspective and modern influence to homes and gardens in the Midwest and on the West Coast.
David Williams
David Williams has his BSc in Architecture from USC in Los Angleles. As part of that degree, he attended one year at the Royal Academy of Architecture in Copenhagen, Denmark and one summer semester in Barcelona, Spain.
Following USC, mr. williams attended one year at the Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies in New York City. mr. williams worked as a junior architect for I.M. Pei in New York for five years, 1980 to 1985. In 2012, he changed his focus to outdoor and landscape design and that is his sole practice now. Besides architecture, mr. williams has a keen interest in sculpture, New Zealand rugby, cricket and America’s Cup.
Ann Wimsatt
Ann Wimsatt has her Masters in Architecture from Tulane University in New Orleans. As part of her degree, she did one semester at the Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies in New York City. ms. Wimsatt worked as a junior architect for Ennead Partners for two years before joining I.M. Pei’s office for an additional two years as a junior architect.
ms. Wimsatt has extensive expertise in all aspects of architecture planning, detailing and construction. In addition to her architecture work, ms. Wimsatt is a plein-air painter and digital print artist. She has had two successful shows at Bruno David Gallery in St Louis. ms. Wimsatt also writes about architecture and urban planning, and she published a number of articles in noted history magazines and blogs such as the Missouri History Museum Gateway Magazine, The National Magazine (Abu Dhabi) and Preservation Research Blog. She was also a noted contributor to Planning Abu Dhabi: An Urban History by Dr. Alamira Reem Bani Hashim.
