Transforming How The Family Lives and Entertains

The client loved entertaining, but the home’s cloistered layout made entertaining difficult. Small compartmentalized rooms forced even just eight guests to split between the kitchen and the front room, leaving little space to mingle comfortably.

Originally commissioned for a simple kitchen remodel, the project evolved into a full-scale transformation of the house and the outdoor areas. The back of the house was opened to create a seamless indoor-outdoor flow, amplifying natural light and creating a strong visual connection to the landscape. A calm, neutral palette and carefully selected materials support the contemporary, free-flowing design. The layout and spatial flow were guided by principles of feng shui, shaping how people move through the home. The redesigned space elevates everyday living, combining thoughtful functionality with a modern, open aesthetic.

“The house was chopped up — if our client was having seven or eight women over, some would be in the front room and some would be trying to squeeze into the kitchen, so we opened it up and made space for some people to hang at the breakfast table and others to sit at the island. Now, in this house, they’re all together.”
