From an automobile showroom to an artist’s studio.
When artist Katherine Bernhardt purchased former automobile factory and showroom spaces in Midtown, St. Louis, we created energizing studio, gallery and warehouse spaces within the existing 1900s brick buildings. Throughout the renovation, we collaborated with Bernhardt on the development of many one-of-a-kind materials and combinations to make the spaces art experiments in and of themselves.
“I got an email from her assistant in New York that said, We bought a building in St. Louis, and we want to make it into an artist’s studio. Are you interested in that job? I said, Yeah, but I can’t talk right now, because I’m in New York for a week. And she wrote back and said, We’re in New York! So we quickly arranged to meet at a coffee shop in Brooklyn.”
